The neighbourhood of Keheewin is located in south west Edmonton. Keheewin means “eagle” in Cree. Construction in Keheewin started in the 1970s, according to the 2001 federal census, when 14.2% of the homes in the neighbourhood were built. The majority were built in the 1980s, when 62.4% of the homes in Keheewin were built. Another 19.9% were built in the 1990s. There is still development to be done in the neighbourhood. Single-family homes are the most common type of home, according to the 2005 municipal census, and make up 49% of the homes in the neighbourhood. Another 36% is comprised of apartments and apartment-style condominiums, 10% is row houses, and the last 4% is comprised of duplexes.
